We strive to engender an appreciation for the Arts that will enrich our student’s lives for years beyond the classroom. The Drama Department enjoy an enviable reputation for their highly professional and entertaining productions. We provide a wide range of mediums for exploration, social criticism and celebration that enable students to define and shape their own identity. They participate in aesthetic learning in which the senses and emotions are engaged cognitively and effectively. By blending intellectual and emotional experiences, students are offered a unique means of inquiry that contributes to their own confidence, creativity, imagination and communication skills.

Active participation within the Arts is strongly encouraged and supported at the College. The collaborative nature of Drama allows students with opportunities to learn to manage interpersonal skills while fostering commitment, initiative, teamwork and cooperation. Students have access to both performance and stagecraft skills as part of the co-curricular program. Each student’s creative ability is stimulated and nurtured by activities that can include acting, direction, dramaturgy, stage management, set design, costume, lighting, properties, make-up and sound.

Tickets are on sale now for the Year 9 Play Much Ado About Nothing.

A sparkling comedy of deceit and self-deception, Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing has remained a popular, frequently produced play for over 400 years. The 1993 movie adaptation starred Kenneth Branagh and Emma Thompson.

This abridged version uses Narrators to help to push the action along. The bickering lead couple, Beatrice and Benedick, are a firm favourite of lovers of Shakespeares’s comedies. A misunderstanding threatens to separate vulnerable young lovers Hero and Claudio.

In bringing the romantic comedy closer to the present day, the production will have a hipster vibe, with the story set around a big outdoor music festival.

A large cast of Year 9 students from St Kevin’s College and Genazzano FCJ College have collaborated on Much Ado About Nothing, and the resulting production is sure to be enjoyed by audience members of all ages.

Tickets are now on sale for the Year 7 Play The Adventures of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi.

Hailed as one of the best short stories of all time, The Adventures of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi is a charming and amusing tale of bravery in the face of danger.

The play’s Indian storyteller will spark the audience’s imagination to see the jungle and its creatures as he weaves the magical tale and the actors interpret the roles of cobras, monkeys, wolves, a crocodile, a camel, an elephant and the wily mongoose, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi.

A British family in old India is in jeopardy from marauding cobras in league with Shere Khan, the arrogant tiger. Only Rikki can save them, and he does so in a surprising way.

A large cast of students from St Kevin’s and Sacré Coeur have joined forces to present this enchanting play, which is suitable for all ages.
