Headmaster's Weekly Address

Dear Parents,

The Centenary Music Soirée lived up to our high expectations as a night of fine company, good food and wine, accompanied by remarkable music. Hosted by the College Foundation and the Music Association, a near-full Boyd Egan Hall was genuinely enthralled by the performances of our music staff, alongside some Old Collegians and a select few current students. The Brass Ensemble and Big Band had people toe-tapping, while the Chamber and Flute Ensembles were simply outstanding. The two vocal Ensembles were audience favourites once again. Sincere thanks to Mr Harris and all our musicians. The major concert for the year will be the Centenary Concert at Hamer Hall on Monday 3 September. Do put the date in your diary, as I am confident it will be a night to remember.

In the Daily Memo, the Dean of Sport reminded students that all changing for sport is to be done in the change rooms and not in the open. Valuables should be locked in the lockers provided at Tooronga and at Heyington, given to coaches and staff for safe-keeping until the end of training.

The Art Show opens on Friday evening. The art and the in-house café are worthy of a visit across the weekend if you are not joining us for the opening night.

The second of our Albert Street Lecture Series is on Monday 4 June in the Ruby Tout Theatre at Heyington. Addressing the topic, Australian Politics in 20 years’ time, will be Anna Burke and Kelly O’Dwyer with Old Collegian, Ray D’Cruz (1990), as facilitator. Tickets are free as they will be to the entire series. Details are on our website and you can book online at https://form.jotform.com/81337646540963. While you are on the website, you may wish to book a ticket for the Years 7-9 musical, Honk! Jr with performances at Waterford in the Vaucluse Hall. The Sunday Matinée is sold out, but there are still tickets available for the evening performances next week (https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=379686&).

The final SFR plug for this week, is to bring to the attention of Old Collegians, the Annual Dinner to be held at Kooyong Lawn Tennis Club on Friday week, 1 June. I do know that it is possible to book tickets via https://www.trybooking.com/UZTF.
