Silver Creek

Silver Creek Outdoor Centre is situated in the foothills of the Great Divide. Set on twenty-three hectares, the property is bordered by Silver and King Parrot Creeks and the Mount Disappointment State Forest. The Centre is dominated by tall stands of Manna Gums and tree ferns.

The Centre is well appointed with a toilet and shower block, a modern dining hall and kitchen, a resource centre, sleeping accommodation and a log cabin with open fire.

A vision of Brother Vincent Hackett, Headmaster of Glendalough, and a determination to establish a bush retreat was realized with the purchase of the property with the support of the Fathers’ Association in 1966. The first camp held in October 1967 was a test for staff and students.

Over many years the Silver Creek Camp has been the springboard for the establishment of an outstanding outdoor education program that supports a diverse range of activities and experiences.

Silver Creek Centre is located off Silver Creek Road 14 kilometres from the Kinglake West General Store along the Yea – Whittlesea Road.
